Total time: 10 mins
A glass jar containing orange juice with whole oranges in the background. Pin it

For this image compression feature I chose Imagify. But you can also use Compress JPEG and PNG images
By TinyPNG
which is also very good. Enough chit-chat, let's go!

Description

For this image compression feature I chose Imagify. But you can also use Compress JPEG & PNG images By TinyPNG which is also very good. Enough chit-chat, let's go!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. download the plugin Imagify and install and activate it.
  2. Then just follow the instructions: first open an account by clicking SIGN UP, IT'S FREE! Add your email address.
  3. Then click on I HAVE RETRIEVED MY API KEY. Copy the identification key you received in the email (at the very bottom) and paste it into WordPress.
  4. Finally click GO TO SETTINGS. Check the desired compression level (on alaseoupe.com I set ULTRA). Tick the boxes Automatically optimize uploaded images, Keep a copy of original images, EXIF data.
  5. Check Resize images that are too large and enter the maximum width you want (1920px wide is standard, but if you enter a dimension that is too small the plugin will tell you the minimum width used by your theme)
  6. Click Save and Go to Bulk Optimization
  7. Check the Media Library and Custom Folders and add the theme, which will optimize its images

Note

There you go — you can go back to GTMetrix to check your score, which should have moved up again. What? You forgot to check your score before installing the plugin? Serves you right. From now on you'll check your score every 10 minutes ;-)
