Google: are you ready for the June 2025 Core Update?

Google is launching its June Core Update this Monday, June 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM French time! A routine update announced every June for several years, it is expected to last 3 weeks and allows Google to improve the visibility of content relevant to users.

Google rolls out its second update of the year

After the last Google Core Update March 2025, Google is launching its usual pre-summer Core Update:

Today we've rolled out the June 2025 core update to Google Search. It's a routine update intended to surface more relevant, satisfying content for searchers across all kinds of sites. We'll update our ranking release history page once the rollout is complete: Google Search Status Dashboard.”

Should we be worried?

No, it is a Google habit to announce a major algorithm update in June. Don’t forget that Google updates its algorithm several thousand times a year.

During a Search Central Live event, John Mueller, Google’s spokesperson, confirmed that Google had launched more than 4,700 updates per year (2023 data), resulting from more than 700,000 tests carried out each year to meet users’ expectations.

As for the changes we make, that number comes from 2023; I expect last year's number is similar. We've done over 4,700 launches, stemming from more than 700,000 tests, and we run tests all the time. You can try to estimate how many tests run each day: if you assume a test typically runs for about two weeks, there are many tests happening in parallel.

What to do during a major Google algorithm update?

Nothing! Well… nothing radical! Monitor your traffic in Google Search Console and Wait until the update finishes (we estimate about 3 weeks) before making major changes on your website.

Here are three resources to read to understand the concept of a “Core Update”:
