Codeur.com: Hello Charlotte! Could you start by introducing yourself to our readers?

Charlotte Delattre : Hello! My name is Charlotte, I’m a freelance community manager. I’ve had professional experience at large companies like GRTgaz, for example. I was doing community management and started working for myself during the Covid period.

At the same time, I created my ready-to-wear business. It includes a website and a physical store in Nancy.

I’ve been a community manager for exactly eight years. I also teach community management at communication and marketing schools.

Codeur.com: Did your background point you toward becoming a community manager?

Charlotte D.: I completed a master’s degree in political communication and a first year in events and 360° communication. In fact, it was more my professional experiences that led me to community management than my studies.

Codeur.com: Can you tell us more about your freelance CM activity?

Charlotte D.: After launching my sole proprietorship during Covid, I decided to devote myself to it full-time a few months later.

Codeur.com: Did you sign up on Codeur.com right away?

Charlotte D.: I registered on Codeur.com during 2023. So it’s not very long ago, but it has already brought me quite a few clients! Before, I was present on other platforms and mostly found clients via LinkedIn. But Codeur.com is a real plus, and I’m quite happy with it.

My first project on Codeur.com was a community management and blog article writing assignment.

Overview of Charlotte Delattre's Codeur.com profile

Codeur.com: So your skills go beyond community management?

Charlotte D.: Yes, of course. I do community management, but I also write press releases and blog posts. I also offer more general web copywriting. On the web side, I can modify and create websites, mainly on Shopify and Wix, and I do SEO.

Codeur.com: How did you discover Codeur.com?

Charlotte D.: I discovered Codeur.com through a LinkedIn article. I signed up out of curiosity to test the platform and because the subscription price is affordable.

It’s different from other platforms, where most of the time clients come looking for a provider. On Codeur.com, we reach out to the client. It’s completely different and it allowed me to find clients quickly.

Codeur.com: How long did it take you to find clients?

Charlotte D.: In less than a week, I landed my first assignment. And since I signed up, I’ve found more than twenty clients. In the first month I had 4 or 5. I came to Codeur.com to find small recurring projects, because I already have large projects on the side that take up my time, so I mainly respond to offers to find additional work.

Codeur.com: Were you surprised by your nomination for the Codeur Awards?

Charlotte D.: Yes, it was very flattering, since I had only been registered on Codeur.com for a few months. The many assignments I completed surely helped me climb the ranks. It proves that responsiveness does pay off.

Codeur.com: Indeed, with this first edition of the Codeur Awards, we also wanted to highlight the platform’s newcomers, to showcase freelancers who manage to win many assignments and show everyone that you can succeed even starting from zero. Did you see the announcement of your win live?

Charlotte D.: I was able to see the announcement of my win live, which was a very pleasant surprise.

Codeur.com: What are your goals now?

Charlotte D.: To win again next year, of course! (laughs)

Codeur.com: For potential clients reading this interview, are there any particular social networks you specialize in?

Charlotte D.: I regularly take courses to stay up to date. As a result, I have knowledge of all social networks. What interests me most are tasks related to community management and writing, which are truly complementary.

Client reviews of Charlotte Delattre on Codeur.com

Codeur.com: Do you set up a strategy for your clients or do you implement the strategy the client provides?

Charlotte D.: It really depends on the clients. Some come with no idea what they want to publish, so in that case we put a strategy in place. That's what I prefer, because it lets me work my creative side. And sometimes they already have ideas but lack the time. They already know what they want to do and how they want to do it, and it's up to me to organize everything, to add images and words to their ideas that they don't have time to implement.

Codeur.com: Do you do everything yourself? Do you also produce video UGC, which is very trendy right now?

Charlotte D.: Yes, I do everything myself. If the graphic needs are very complex, I sometimes call on graphic designers. For UGC it depends. Sometimes I make them myself, sometimes clients send me raw footage that I have to edit or clips ready to publish. I do a lot of video editing, especially for reels, for example.

Codeur.com: Do you have a final word for our readers and for those who would like to start as freelancers?

Charlotte D.: You have to be bold, because you only have one life so you should take your chance. The key to freelance work is organization. As in all professions, but it's even truer for freelancers, because you juggle clients and projects. So if you're not organized, you quickly get overwhelmed.

Start, be bold, get organized.
