Nothing is more important, believe me, than this recipe. Just as you put food in the fridge to preserve it, it is important to store your data by setting up a backup. On the internet it’s easy to make a mistake that can wipe out several days or even years of work. The idea is to put in place a simple but effective automatic backup routine that will let you restore your WordPress if it crashes. Here’s how.
Put your data in the cold to preserve it well

This recipe is fairly simple but a bit long. Set aside some time — the time you invest now is time you won’t lose later. The main ingredient of this recipe is the UpdraftPlus Backup. Come on, let’s get started.
- 1 UpdraftPlus plugin (Free)
- Go to Plugins > Add New and type updraft in the search box. You should see this (see attached image). Install the plugin. (You can install these three very useful plugins but only activate the first one for now.)

- Click the link that appears in your WordPress dashboard or go to Settings > UpdraftPlus Backups
- Click the Settings tab and choose the frequency of your backups.
For a launch phase where activity is higher, I choose every 12 hours with 5 backups for files, and every 4 hours with 10 backups for my database - You can check the Email box to receive a report, then click Save
- Return to the Current State tab and click Backup
So, not directly related to SEO. But securing your site and setting up an automatic backup is very easy to plan and saves a lot of time and sleepless nights. You can go further, and it’s recommended, by storing the backup on a different storage than the one hosting your site.
If there’s a problem with the server, you have a second fallback wheel. A recipe is planned for that, but a little later 😉
