When you host someone, it's important to really know them. Of course you can't guess who will cross the threshold of your website. What are they expecting? What are their tastes? Do they have time? What menu should you offer them? This is infinitely complicated. But there's a trick: refer to the impressions of your previous visitors. That's where Google Analytics can help. This recipe sheet will help you install that tool. Briefly for now because it's a big topic. But we'll come back to it. Ready to go?
Know your guests better than you do yourself

How to use Google Analytics? The idea is to add a small piece of code that will allow Google to track your site's visitors. We'll spare you the headache by using a plugin that will do this for you and display the main information directly in your WordPress dashboard. Right, let's get started!
- 1 Gmail account
- 1 Google Analytics account
The Google part
- Go to gmail.com and create an @gmail.com address. Don't forget your password.
- Go to https://analytics.google.com and sign in (you'll usually already be signed in with your Google account).
- Click Start using Google Analytics, then click Sign up.
- Fill in the fields Account Name, Website Name, Website URL, and select an Industry Category and a Reporting Time Zone.
- Under Data Sharing Settings, check the boxes next to the options you want.
- Click Get a tracking ID.
- From the Google Analytics Terms of Service window, click "I accept."
The plugin
- Go to the plugins menu of your WordPress and add the Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP) plugin
- At the end of the installation click the link that will connect you to your Google Analytics account. If you have multiple Properties (sites) in Google, you will be connected.
There — your site and Google Analytics are connected. All that's left is to go to your WordPress dashboard and admire the traffic charts that appear.
