Total time: 25 mins
Wooden mortar containing salt with a wooden pestle inside. Pin it

So you followed my advice and opened an account with Infomaniak. Wise choice — enabling an SSL certificate won't take much effort! On the other hand, it will only bring benefits. Like salt in cooking, SSL is now essential! There are rare cases where a site needs to run without SSL, but that's very uncommon. If that's your case, contact us and we'll sort it out!
One more note: if you can't select the free Let's Encrypt certificate, it's because your domain name is too new. Wait 48 hours and try again.

Description

So you followed my advice and opened an account with Infomaniak. Good choice — enabling an SSL certificate won’t take much effort and will only bring benefits. Like salt in cooking, SSL is now essential! There are a few specific sites that may need to run without SSL, but that’s very rare. If that’s your case, contact us and we’ll sort it out. One more note: if you can’t select the free Let’s Encrypt certificate, it means your domain name is too new — wait 48 hours and try again.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Go to your hosting Home/Domain & Hosting/Manage hostings/YOURHOSTING/
  2. Click on SSL Certificate on the left
  3. In the dropdown menu in the center choose your Domain Name and click "Install"
  4. Check Free SSL certificate (https) and click "Save"
  5. That's it, enjoy! You can verify by typing https://www.yoursite.com into a browser (note the S is important). You should see your site appear. Likewise, if you type your site using non-SSL (just http) it should redirect you to your secure address.
