We'll configure this plugin in a later recipe, but as it is installed it will be ready to use.

Description

This file is very simple. It must be located at the root of your site and named robots.txt; but it's just as easy to add because we'll do it using a very popular plugin: Yoast. We'll configure that plugin in a later recipe, but once installed it's ready to use.

  1. Install the Yoast SEO plugin
  2. Activate it, then go to the new SEO menu that appeared on the left and at the top of your dashboard.
  3. Click on General settings, then on the Features tab
  4. In the list, set the XML Sitemaps feature to Enabled

There you go, it's finished. You can't believe it, can you? And what's the point? As I told you in the introduction, it's like a signpost for Google. It tells it which routes are available to visit your kitchen and which ways are forbidden. It may seem silly, but it's simply essential. Don't mention it!
