It is extremely rare that I spend money on a plugin. For the simple reason that free plugins generally are more than enough to achieve perfectly acceptable results for good organic SEO. But I must admit that for caching plugins — plugins that take the server’s work out of the equation to serve your web pages without delay — I made an exception. Indeed, there are well-made plugins like WP Fastest Cache or WP Super Cache (by the creators of WordPress); but honestly, unable to make my site rocket to lightning speed I invested for a client in WP Rocket. And then there was light!
I'll give you an example: alaseoupe.com, after the Recipe No. 8, had a GTmetrix score of 80% and 60%.
Just by activating WP Rocket, I got a score of 95% 91% which is AA by checking all the boxes. A really easy optimization for my site, with automated Cloudflare account configuration since version 3 (which you will have installed using the Recipe No. 3: Instant Cloud Burst.)
If you don't believe me, meet me in the kitchen and I'll show you!
WP Rocket Salad

Today's recipe is very simple. But it can present a few problems. Follow the instructions and you'll have a site optimized as best as possible for now. You should see your organic traffic take off in the coming days, since your WordPress response speed has a huge impact on your results in Google and other search engines like Bing, Qwant…
- 1 WP Rocket account (to purchase here WP Rocket)
- 1 GTmetrix account (see Recipe No. 2: Using the Measuring Cup)
- 1 Cloudflare account (see Recipe No. 3: Instant Cloud Burst.)
- Go to GTmetrix.com to check your score
- Make a backup as in the Recipe No. 6: Put your data in the cold to preserve it well
- Go to the website of WP Rocket and create an account for yourself. Choose your plan (the first is €39) and download the plugin
- Install the plugin as usual and activate it. You will have two possible accesses: at the top of your admin page and in Settings > WP Rocket
- Go back to check your score on GTmetrix
- From now on you can tick all the boxes. Two ways to proceed: you tick everything, check you haven't broken your site, then see your new score and pop the champagne.
- If you broke it, I recommend restoring your backup (database only) with UpdraftPlus and checking the boxes one by one to see which one causes the problem.
- Go back to check your score on GTmetrix
There you go, you can play around with all the options. If you have a problem, WP Rocket's technical support is in French and very responsive.
And don't forget to share if you liked it!
